Dr Nelly C. Rotich

Dr. Nelly C. Rotich is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a researcher whose work focuses on international trade law, investment law, information technology law and data governance. She holds a Doctor of Laws and a Master of Laws in international trade law from the University of Pretoria, as well as a Bachelor of Laws from Kabarak University.

Dr. Rotich heads CIPIT’s Data Policy and Governance, and Cyber Law and Policy Departments, manages the JIPIT Journal, and contributes to research and teaching on emerging technology governance. In these roles, she advances research at the intersection of law, data governance, and artificial intelligence, examining the legal, ethical, and regulatory challenges posed by emerging technologies and working with academics, industry experts, and policymakers to support frameworks that balance innovation, accountability, and rights protection.
