Gilbert Muyesu

Gilbert Muyesu is a results-driven ICT professional with proven experience spanning public-sector digital transformation. He currently serves as an Assistant Director of ICT at the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, where he supports the coordination of national digital infrastructure programmes, policy development, and multi-stakeholder engagements aligned with the Kenya Digital Masterplan.

Before joining government, Gilbert worked at Equity Bank Limited as an IT Governance, Risk and Compliance Specialist, where he supported the implementation of technology controls, risk assessments, compliance monitoring, and enterprise ICT governance standards. This private-sector grounding enables him to approach public-sector digital initiatives with a structured, compliance-oriented and service-driven perspective.

Gilbert holds a master’s degree in strategic management and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, both from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He is currently pursuing his PhD, further strengthening his academic and professional depth. A passionate technology enthusiast, Gilbert continually refreshes and expands his expertise, including recently completing a specialised course in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy at CIPIT, Strathmore University

He is recognised for his strong technical and analytical mindset, coupled with an ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and international partners. His work demonstrates a deep commitment to public service excellence, accountability, and the advancement of Kenya’s digital transformation through resilient infrastructure, effective governance, and innovative partnerships.
