CIPIT is the Open AIR East Africa Hub!

“Establishing an OpenAIR hub will help Kenya position itself as the leading East African nation in terms of IP activities. In a world where IP is currency, this is critical if Kenya is to attain the goals of Vision 2030.”Isaac Rutenberg, CIPIT Director.
CIPIT is thrilled to announce that we are now Open A.I.R.‘s East Africa Hub institution. Our Dr. Isaac Rutenberg now joins the Open A.I.R team as the East Africa Hub Coordinator.
For those who may not know, the Open A.I.R. project is aimed at African innovation research and training on the role of intellectual property in open development. It is a pan-‐African research and capacity-building network, funded by Canada’s IDRC and Germany’s GIZ. CIPIT becomes Open A.I.R.’s fourth African hub, joining A2K4D in Cairo, NIALS in Lagos, and the UCT IP Law and Policy Research Unit in Cape Town.
CIPIT as the Open A.I.R. hub for the East African region will, through research and capacity building, explore ways in which the regional intellectual property systems that govern knowledge can work better as tools for open innovation and collaborative creativity, in addition to training key public and private sector actors to use these new insights effectively.
CIPIT hopes it can count on your support as we gladly take up this new role of Open A.I.R. East Africa hub.
