This webinar will explore the intersection of traditional knowledge, legal pluralism and regional economic integration, examining how different legal frameworks shape the governance of TK and TCEs. Drawing on legal and regulatory experiences from Kenya, South Africa and Uganda, the discussion will highlight existing approaches, regulatory gaps and emerging opportunities for cross-border governance. It will also examine the practical dimensions of commercialisation, including opportunities for generating economic value while safeguarding community rights, preventing misappropriation and promoting equitable benefit-sharing. The webinar aims to stimulate discussion on how African countries can navigate their diverse legal systems to foster the protection, responsible use and equitable commercialisation of traditional knowledge in an increasingly integrated African market.
