This was the final webinar in the Tech and Trade in Africa webinar series. The session examined AGOA’s future in a changing geopolitical and technological landscape. Discussions examined how U.S.–Africa trade relations are being reshaped by competition with China, the growing strategic importance of critical minerals and digital infrastructure, and Africa’s position within the global technology stack. The session also highlighted the often-overlooked role of African digital and tech workers in global AI supply chains, including data annotation and content moderation, and considered what African countries can do to build local capacity, capture more value, and strengthen their position in future trade and technology negotiations.
